Our 2009 Independence Celebrations was a success thanks to you!!!
What a whirlwind weekend! The Jamaican community in Rochester came out in large numbers to celebrate Jamaica's 47th year of Independence, with a Gala Saturday July 25, 2009, at the Raddisson Hotel, Downtown, Rochester, NY. His Excellency Anthony S. Johnson, Ambassador of Jamaica to the United States was the Key Note speaker with The Vision Band from New York City, as entertainment.
Proceeds from the Gala have been used to purchase an LCD projector and equipment for the Rose Hill All Age School in Jamaica WI.
To those who did not attend the Gala, you missed an inspiring, humorous and thought provoking speech by His Excellency Anthony Johnson, extolling us to believe in Jamaica. We would like to thank everyone for their participation at this event in celebration of Jamaica's Independence and in observance of the Jamaican culture. Thanks to the Canadian/Jamaican Org members who came to support us. Thanks also to Genesee Baptist Church and Island Fresh Cuisine who hosted events. A heartfelt thanks to our Sponsors - please support them as they have supported us. Gala Sponsors:
